Hydraze Started with a mission to save water...

Nobody likes using public bathrooms:

Hydraze founder Charles Grody was a student at the University of Maryland in 2017 when he noticed a frequent and frustrating occurrence of water waste on campus. The automatic toilets had a tendency of flushing multiple times during a single use. Nothing makes the experience of using a public bathroom worse than a rogue toilet flushing multiple times and splashing the user.

What is phantom flushing:

Phantom flushing is the phenomenon where automatic toilet flush more than they need to because the distance sensor on the automatic toilets incorrectly determines when to flush. This is not a problem of faulty distance sensors, but rather a fundamental design flaw of using distance to determine when to flush. A user can move back and forth multiple times in a use (hanging up a coat, using toilet paper, picking up a dropped cell phone, etc...), any which action can trigger an accidental flush.

Water waste that adds up:

Phantom flushes add up. Over the course of a year, phantom flushes increase water consumption of a commercial toilet by 15% to 25% based on first hand Hydraze research. This can cover over 10% of a building's water bill. For large office buildings, airports, and stadiums, that could mean hundreds of thousands of gallons and dollars literally flushed down the toilet!!!

Hydraze's Simple Solution:

Instead of using a distance sensor to trigger a flush, Hydraze's patented automatic solution uses the stall latch. Since everybody uses the latch for privacy in the stall, the single best indicator of when to flush is when the latch is unlocked! By sending a signal to the toilet to flush upon the unlock, Hydraze guarantees exactly one flush per use, saving water while ensuring cleanliness of the stall. And the best part is, nobody needs to worry about any pesky phantom flushes!
